When I painted this I was going through a difficult time. When the painting was finished, I received divine insight that this wave of trial could either take me under, or I could rise up, surf this wave, and allow it to take me further. This depicts one of the many ways God speaks to me through my painting.
My Heart Stayed Awake

The title is taken from Song of Solomon 5:2 “I went to sleep, but my heart stayed awake.” This is depicting the intense experience and emotion involved in the courtship phase of a relationship. There is longing and desire, alongside the fear and uncertainty of mutual affection. At this point in the love story in Song of Solomon, it is clear they are
Beauty for Ashes

This painting is a version of the rising Pheonix. When our eyes are fixed on the light, we are only then lifted out of the fire and ashes of this world. We are lifted out of the mirey clay and what was once ash is turned to beauty.

This painting was created immediately after laying on my back praying. It is simply a visual representation of my experience. This is the love and light exchanged in prayer and the joining with God's heart for the love of all of life and humanity.
Liquid Grace

This painting depicts the overflow of tears, that can be a powerful expression for healing. The red orange colors represent the warmth that comes to bring resolve and healing in love, from the release of these tears. This can be a true grace in our time of pain.

The concept behind "Lion" represents God as King. You can see a bright compassionate king who is also fierce. This depicts the creator of life, beauty, love, and joy that also holds righteous anger for all of the injustices that harm and divide. So many dimensions in this omnipresent King who operates outside of time and holds both righteous anger along side deep love and patience.
